Mom a.k.a. Mrs. Isom
In an effort to deal with the overwhelming amount of anxiety I have about going back to work next week, Eli and I are spending some time in my classroom. This is the beginning of a longterm relationship Little Man will have with my occupation. I'm so grateful for my job and so grateful it is a job I enjoy doing. I'm really looking forward to getting back to my students. But this is hard! I have a completely new admiration for all those working mothers out there. The goal is to stay positive and just do what I can. #1 priority - Eli and Kelly, #2 - Work. Sorry dishes. You are really low on the totem pole!

Super Eli
Bear Cub's First Christmas
Singing with the Macs, Dinner with the Isoms, Sleepover with Grandma...What a Christmas! It was so much fun to have our little "stocking stuffer" here for Christmas. Eli really is the very best present we've ever received. Kelly and I really enjoyed buying gifts for the little man and giving them to each other. Kelly opened a couple of Lego kits, I opened a play mat. And then we played!
The very happiest Christmas ever!

Dear Santa...
Tonight Eli met the "Big Man" for the first time. We met up with Anne, Brandon, and Ethan at Thanksgiving point where Fotofly was doing the pictures. So much fun! Kelly dressed up in the Santa suit for the shoot, which explains the cute "daddy" look Eli has in a couple of the pics. What a great way to celebrate Eli's 1 month birthday!

Costco on Saturday?
It's common knowledge that Saturday afternoon at Costco is the supreme collection of human idocity and the leading cause of sudden onset insanity! But even with that knowledge, I managed to end up at Costco at 2:00 on a Saturday. Thankfully, Eli and I went with Grandpa, who helped wrangle the cart as we wound our way through the masses. Eli had a rough night last night - sleeping for 30 minutes at a time until he finally passed out from exhaustion at 5am - which meant mom had a rough night. I didn't, however, want to miss out on an adventure for the day, so Costco seemed like a good idea. Eli's threats of falling apart made our shopping trip short, which helped us survive the afternoon of mayhem. He also helped by getting us so much attention - "Oh, look at that cute little guy!" "What a cute baby!" and even "What aisle do they sell those?" Good times!
And what can you do when you get home from a Saturday Costco adventure? See above picture! (Mom took a nap too!)

A Week of Firsts
It's been a busy week for us - we're trying to get out and have an "adventure" each day. Monday we had Heather, Meghan, Mack visiting and hanging out with cousins was a great adventure. Tuesday we went out to lunch with them as well. Mom learned that it really does take 45 minutes to get ready for a 5 minute drive and 1/2 hour lunch. Tuesday it was a walk at the mall. That was really an adventure - but very much worth it! Thursday we went to Target (one of our favorite adventures) and tried not to get blown away. Friday, well, today we decided to take it easy. We've got some visitors coming and maybe later we'll go out for a little bit. It's amazing how much a little "adventure" time is saving mom's sanity! I'm so grateful he's mellow enough to let me do it. Thanks, Eli!

A Visit with Grandpa O.
Great Grandpa Osborne came for a visit last week.
He came up from Hurricane to trade out some rocking chairs for us and, most importantly, see his newest great-grandson. They almost shared a birthday, but Grandpa says that one day late is still pretty close. What an amazing thing to have a great-grandpa!

Hi there, Bear Cub!
On Monday we got to have one last peek at our little man before he makes his grand entrance. Dr. Baxter wanted to make sure of his position and size, which is good thing. Bear Cub is head down, but he's facing sideways. We also found out he's measuring almost 8 lbs!! So much for a petite Isom! In this picture you can only see his nose and mouth, but Kelly is convinced he's smiling. He also says Bear Cub's got my nose, or at least my nostrils. I just can't believe how big and perfect he is! Oh so very, very cute!
Oh, little Bear Cub! Please come soon! We want to play and cuddle and kiss your toes!

New School Year, New Job, New Carpet
The adventures of Betsy and Bulk continue as we prepare for little man to arrive. School has started and I'm back to teaching 6th grade at Wasatch. I have a good class - it just seems that keeping track of 33 bodies is somehow exponentially harder than 30. Strange how that happens. Keeping track of my body is also somewhat of a challenge. Each day brings a new surprise - exhaustion, swollen feet, sore back... The joys of pregnancy, right?
Kelly is enjoying his new job at Uhaul. After a quick hire, a General Manager leaving, an interim GM coming in, a new GM, an assistant manager quitting, and Kelly being promoted to assistant manager, Kelly is settling into a good situation. He works all sorts of hours and hasn't had a week under 40 hours yet. But he's happy. That's what matters!
And finally, new carpet. It may be an old house with no 2x4's and the most creative venting ever imagined, but it is going to look good! We got a great deal on carpet at RC Willey and next week will be running our toes through soft, CLEAN, cushy carpet. I can't wait! It's all part of the preparation for little man - we couldn't just carpet his room, now could we? We'll even get the squeaky floors and crooked walls fixed before the carpet comes in. Yeah!

Finally getting on board...
Yes, Betsy and Kelly have officially entered the high-tech, exciting, and not-so-new world of blogging. We thought that with little Bear Cub on his way that this would be a great way to keep you up to date on our growing family.
